Liza Gomez was born to a Salvadoran single mother and raised by her mother, aunts, and grandmother. Liza became a parent at a young age and used the newfound responsibility as fuel to succeed. As the first in her family to obtain a degree, Liza has seen first-hand how impactful and important higher education can be. She works closely with other single mothers, encouraging them to pursue higher education and assisting them with finding childcare resources when needed. Working in healthcare for over 20 years, Liza has worked in various specialties and geographical areas with a special interest in women’s health. Liza has partnered with the Downtown Women’s Center, providing self-care to those seeking services and hopes to one day work with an organization that focuses on the mental and physical health of those who have been trafficked and forced into sex-work.
