April D. Thames, PhD, joined the Division of Psychology faculty as Professor, and Associate Director of the Medical Psychology Assessment Center (MPAC). She will lead a translational neuroscience research program in association with the Cousins Center for Psychoneuroimmunology. Her work will focus on the impact of chronic disease, substance abuse, socioeconomic disadvantage, lifetime stress, adversity, and resilience on neurological, cognitive, and mental health outcomes. She also will examine factors that obscure the validity of neuropsychological test performance among ethnic and racial minority groups.
