Health Equity & Anti-Racism Community Advisory Board
(HEAR CAB)
The Health Equity & Anti-Racism Community Advisory Board (HEAR CAB) in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) at UCLA comprises individuals representing a spectrum of lived experiences from diverse communities across Los Angeles County, alongside representatives from key service systems (e.g., DMH, DHS, DCFS), community-based organizations (CBOs), educational and health institutions, and other stakeholders actively engaged in the field of wellbeing.
Mission
1. Offer informed recommendations to the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences researchers regarding development of research initiatives, dissemination of findings, implementation of activities that directly address the unique needs and concerns of the diverse communities within Los Angeles County
2. Serve as a vital conduit between the community and the Department researchers by facilitating meaningful community engagement and prioritizing those most impacted by health inequities.
